Review of Emma Emmets, Playground Matchmaker

by

Emma Emmets is determined to make fourth grade a good year but with her crazy little sister Quinn starting Kindergarten and glamours Isla to deal with she's not sure if she can make it. But suddenly Emma discovers she has a superpower - she's an amazing matchmaker. But in fourth grade having a boyfriend is not the only thing you need. But will the annoying new guy Daniel ruin everything? And will Emma get to meet her "perfect match" Jake LaDrake singing sensation? Emma and her friends learn some important lessons in this cute story about the huge, life changing obstacles we have all faced in fourth grade.

This is a sweet book for younger readers - and a fun read for older readers.

If you love Meg Cabot's Allie Finkle's Rules For Girls series, Randa Abdel-Fattah's Friendship Matchmaker or Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary (Quinn could give Ramona a run for her money) then you will fall in love with Emma Emmets.

Review of Lulu and the Cat in the Bag

Lulu and the Cat in the Bag

Hilary McKay, illustrated by Priscilla Lamont
Albert Whitman & Company
This sweet story of Lulu and her cousin Mellie and a suprise in the bag.
Lulu loves animals and much to her Nana's dismay has LOTS of pets so there is no way that the big fully marigold cat can stay ... or so Nana thinks.
This is a lovely story fun and easy for bigger kids to read as well an enjoyable funny read for mums & dads to read to their kids.
It also helps teach kids in a fun way about what is involved in looking after pets.
The book is beautifully complimented by great illustrations from the tallented Priscilla Lamont.

I'm off to find the first two of Lulu's adventures
